Never swim alone. Swim with a buddy.
Know your swimming limits and stay within them.
Never drink alcohol and swim.
Obey "No diving" signs.
Never leave a child unobserved around water. This includes supervising children
while bathing. There is NO substitute for adult supervision.
Dont prop pool gates open.
Keep furniture away from fence. A child could use it to climb over the fence.
Locate the nearest phone to the pool or better yet, keep a cordless phone nearby.
Dont allow toys such as tricycles or wheel toys in the pool area. A child playing
on these could accidentally fall into the water.
Teach family members good pool safety habits:
No pushing playmates
No jumping on others
No diving or jumping in shallow water.
Learn CPR and insist that babysitters, grandparents, and others who care for your child
know CPR.
