G.A.I.N. - Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods

G.A.I.N. GETTING ARIZONA INVOLVED IN NEIGHBORHOODS

G.A.I.N. - Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods, formerly National Night Out, is a partnership effort between the Tempe Police Department and Neighborhood Watch Programs, Neighborhood Associations, Apartment and Mobile Home Communities. During G.A.I.N. residents lock their doors, turn on their porch lights and spend the evening outdoors with their neighbors, mayor, city council members, fire department and the officers who patrol their neighborhoods.

The purpose of G.A.I.N. is to heighten crime awareness, generate participation in anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood support, build community relations and send a message to criminals that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

G.A.I.N. organizers attended an Organizational Meeting held at the Pyle Center, on the southwest corner of Rural Road and Southern Ave. and obtain literature; ideas; G.A.I.N. t-shirts: promotional materials to host a successful event; visit police static displays; and meet their beat representatives. Organizers are given the opportunity to participate in raffle drawings for special units, characters, and prizes to create a successful event.

In the past we featured "Community Government on Wheels". Four city buses comprised of city staff, council members, police officials, mayor and city manager attended various events throughout the city to highlight resources available to your neighborhood to improve the quality of life.
