Retrofit Kit Program
The City of Tempe is offering free plumbing retrofit kits. These kits are
available only to water customers whose homes were built before 1980. After 1980
our low flow ordinances mandated new homes be equipped with these products. The
kits contain:
- One ultra low flow
showerhead (less than 3 gallons per minute) plus sealant tape.
- One toilet dam to
partition off part of the toilet tank.
- One toilet tummy,
also a toilet displacement device.
- Two faucet aerators
for the kitchen and bath.
- Leak detection
tablets.
- Instructions.
When installed, a kit can
result in water savings of 22 gallons per day or over 8,000 gallons per year for
a family of three.
Individual homeowners who are eligible may take a copy of their water bill to
any city customer service representatives and receive up to two kits per
household. The Customer Services Office is located at 20 E. 6th Street, next to
the Human Resources Office 480-350-8361. Homeowners Associations, Apartment
Complexes, and Multi-family Housing Units may receive kits by calling the Water
Conservation Office at 480-350-2668.
