The City of Tempe is offering a landscape rebate to water customers who install, or convert, a front or back yard of high water use landscape, to a low water use landscape or Xeriscape. A low-water-use landscape or Xeriscape will use as much as 50% less water than a equal-sized Bermuda Turf Lawn (a savings of as much as 25,000 gallons per year).

The City is offering a $ 250.00 rebate for a front yard and   $ 250.00 for a back yard conversion of grass to desert landscaping or a new installation of desert landscaping.  Rebate participants who are applying for a rebate that have converted or installed their landscape prior to September 30th   2004,  are only eligible for a $ 100.00 rebate according to the old rebate program guidelines.

This Rebate Program is designed to encourage water customers to reduce outdoor water use. The Landscape Rebate Program is available to owners of single-family residential properties that receive water through the City of Tempe. The applicant must be the property owner or the party legally responsible for paying the water bill.

To apply:
Mail a completed application along with a before and after picture of the property you are submitting. The landscape must meet city code and result in a reduction of the total annual water use for the property. Applicants are encouraged to use Xeriscape principals and practices when installing their landscapes:

· Good Planning and Design   · Limited Turf areas  · Efficient Irrigation
· Use of Soil Improvements   · Use of Mulches · Low-Water-Use-Plants
  · Appropriate Maintenance

Brochures illustrating these principals and practices are available free of charge from the City of Tempe Water Conservation Office @ 480-350-2668

NOTE: All rebates provided will be on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability of funds.
