The Community Development Department is engaged in proactively solving the challenges related to: Economic Development, Redevelopment, Town Lake, Housing and Neighborhood Enhancement. The department employs 54 full-time employees and 16 part-time employees.  The Tempe City Council has asked the department to focus on quality new urban development and job attraction while making sure the physical condition of our neighborhoods is maintained and nurtured.  We administer federal grant programs for housing, social services and capital improvements. We also market the City for the purpose of enhancing the image of Tempe as a great environment for new job growth and tourism.  The staff of Community Development is dedicated to these tasks and happy to assist the community and visitors with professional and prompt attention.
