Enforcement Responsibilities

The Code Compliance Division is responsible for the enforcement of a variety of municipal codes and ordinances which were created to promote the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens.

The Nuisance and Property Enhancement includes:

Trash, litter, and debris   Inoperable/Unregistered vehicles
Weeds/Grass (over 12") Sidewalk or Street obstructions
Dead or deteriorated landscaping Stagnant pool water
Deteriorated fences/walls/roofs   Unsecured swimming pool enclosures
Chipping or peeling paint Barking Dog
Lawn parking Excessive dog litter 

The Rental Housing Code ensures that our rental housing remains free of deteriorated and slum-like conditions. The code was not designed to settle landlord-tenant disputes. Rental Housing Code includes:

Sanitary facilities    Food preparation facilities
Electrical and lighting Doors, windows, and ventilation
Heating and cooling Space and occupancy
Safety and security General maintenance

The Zoning Ordinance establishes procedures for obtaining use permits and requesting variances from
the code provisions. Some of the more common complaints include:

Excessive occupancy   RV, boat, and trailer storage
Placement of accessory buildings Home occupation violations
Fence heights and placement   

The Noise Ordinance covers different sources of noise. Some of the more common complaints that we investigate include complaints of excessive noise generated from air conditioners, machinery, construction equipment and activity. Loud Parties  are under the jurisdiction of the Police Department 480-966-6211.
