Education Partnerships Council Committee - Work Plan

The goal of this committee is to advance partnerships among the city, educational entities (Arizona State University, Maricopa Community College District, Tempe Union High School District, Tempe Elementary District, Kyrene District, and charter schools), and education non-profits, in order to enhance the quality and delivery of education within Tempe.

Housing & Social Service Programs Council Committee - Work Plan

The committee’s goals are to explore regulatory-based incentives for developing affordable housing and implementing inclusionary housing programs, developing an affordable housing strategy to guide the city’s overall efforts, creating new affordable housing programs and evaluating existing programs, and providing a forum for dialog with the community to understand the needs of affordable housing throughout the city. The committee also encourages additional funding and continued support of the HOPE program, and builds partnerships that increase access to permanent affordable housing for homeless individuals and families.

Neighborhood Quality of Life and Revitalization Council Committee - Work Plan

The committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. This committee addresses park rehabilitation and maintenance efforts through a collaborative effort between citizen input and feedback and City staff responsible for oversight of park design and maintenance.

Sports, Tourism, Recreation, Arts & Cultural Development Council Committee - Work Plan

This committee addresses opportunities for economic and cultural development, including programs and related capital projects associated with professional, youth and amateur sports and recreation, and arts and cultural opportunities.

Strategy Session Council Committee

All Councilmembers serve on this committee. Its work plan focuses on Tempe’s central core and issues such as redevelopment, stabilization, branding and tourism. The committee works to maintain, rehabilitate and preserve Papago Park and its amenities, and to work with the Mill Avenue District, the Rio Salado Foundation, the Papago Salado Foundation, the Arizona Historical Society Museum and others, to create a widely accepted and understood vision of the Mill & Lake District and its components.

Technology, Economic & Community Development Council Committee - Work Plan

This committee addresses technology application and implementation in Tempe, economic development issues and opportunities, and community development and redevelopment strategies and efforts.

Transportation Council Committee -
Work Plan

This committee works to
mitigate noise impacts on neighborhoods under the flight paths for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, encourage the implementation of noise reduction measures for new developments in redevelopment areas around Town Lake, assure the safe and efficient movement of people and vehicles along the street system, and recognize and encourage pedestrian and bicycle travel as an important part of the transportation system.
