EARLY VOTING May 18 Election - Early Voting PLEASE NOTE: The new Voter ID requirements for ballots cast at the polling on election day DO NOT APPLY TO EARLY BALLOTS. Early ballots are verified by comparing the voter's original signature on the back of each early ballot against the official version of the voter's signature that is on file with the Maricopa County Elections Department. If the signatures do not match, then the early ballot is not counted.TEMPE EARLY VOTING IN PERSON - April 26 - May 14, 2010 Early voting will be available at the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Road (SW corner of Rural/Southern) and ASU, Safety Escort Office in Palo Verde West, 330 East University Drive, Tempe (University and College).For the May 18, 2010 General/Special Election, the dates of operation for early voting at the library and ASU are: Monday, April 26 through Friday, May 14, 2010.The hours of operation for early voting are: Monday-Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Individuals may also vote an early ballot in person during regular business hours from April 22 to May 14, 2010 at any of the Maricopa County Recorder Offices, located at: 111 S. 3rd Avenue, Phoenix; 510 S 3rd Avenue, Phoenix; or 222 E. Javelina, Mesa.EARLY VOTING BY MAIL - April 22 - May 7, 2010: nternet RequestsPhone requests for a mail ballot can be made by calling the Maricopa County Elections Department at (602)506-1511 or (602)506-2348 (TDD).Written requests may be sent to the Maricopa County Elections Department, 510 S. 3rd Avenue, Phoenix, 85034. Written requests should include: 1) voter's name and residence address; 2) birth date; 3) election for which ballot is requested; 4) address where the ballot is to be mailed, if different than residence address; 5) signature of requester; and whether you want to be included in the permanent early voters list. If you choose to be on the permanent early voting list, you will automatically receive an early ballot by mail (without having to request each time, for each election within Maricopa County). REQUEST DEADLINE: ALL requests for an early ballot (written, phone or internet) must be received by the Office of the Maricopa County Recorder no later than 5:00 p.m. on the second Friday preceding the election (May 7, 2010). VOTING DEADLINE: In order to be valid and counted, the mailed ballot and signed affidavit must be received by the Office of the Maricopa County Recorder or deposited at any polling place in Maricopa County no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day (Election Day – May 18, 2010). |
