Tempe Police Explorers are sponsored by the Learning for Life division of the Boy Scouts of America. This program is designed for young men and women ages 14 through 20 interested in law enforcement as a potential career. Explorers are mentored by a group of dedicated sworn and civilian police employees, who emphasize self-confidence, strong work ethic, accountability, and integrity. The Explorer Program provides trainings in a variety of law enforcement topics, opportunities to participate in local and national explorer competitions and trainings, and involvement with department and community service projects. We are always looking for individuals who are wanting to better themselves and their community.
Community ServiceGiving back and helping our community is one of the most important experiences for our Explorers. Therefore, Explorers participate and volunteer at a variety of fun and gratifying events throughout the year.
For example, Our Explorers assist yearly at P.O.S.A.'s Shop with a Cop event. We are fortunate and proud to provide a multitude of services to ensure over a hundred less-privledged children have a happy holiday season; a truly humbling and wonderful experience for everyone.
The Tempe Police Explorer Program does not receive financial assistance through the Tempe Police Department's general fund. Its daily operation is funded through its Explorers' own fundraising efforts and charitable contributions.
