The Tempe Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is a way for community members who live, work, or go to school in Tempe, to have a better understanding of how the Department operates. There are many components to a Police Department, both sworn and civilian, that make the department successful both internally, and externally, with the community that it serves. The overall goal of the CPA is to inform and engage participants in a way that educates them on how we deliver police services in the City of Tempe. At the same time, we will work to enhance our relationship with the community that we serve. The purpose of the academy is for the participants to have a better knowledge base of law enforcement and how it is part of the community.
