City of Tempe Municipal Volunteer Program

The City of Tempe is looking for school groups (junior high, high school, and college), service organizations, and corporate groups, as well as individuals, interested in one-time service projects. Please see "One-time Activities" for a current list of upcoming events and activities. 

FEBRUARY Activities

Sweethearts Dance at Escalante Center, Friday, Feb 13, 4p-8:30p (30 vol. needed)--Filled, Thank You T.H.S. Key Club
 
 Volunteers will help with crafts, food, set-up and tear-down of this fun holiday activity for the neighborhood
   sweethearts.

Free Arts Friday at Vihel Activity Bldg, Friday, Feb 20, 9a-noon (10 volunteers)--OPEN
   ​Volunteers assist the children with their crafts and activities. Theme for the day is Mardi Gras. Volunteers have as
   much fun as the children!

Play Day at Kiwanis Park, Saturday, February 28, 9:30a-2:30p--FILLED (Thank you THS and EVBSC)
   Volunteers will assist leaders and participants with a variety of structured and unstructured games and events,
   including youth sports activities, dance & movement activities, kayaking, inflatables, etc.  It's a great day and
   many 
fun activities to participate in. 

MARCH Activities

Desert Sprints Regatta, March 7 at Tempe Town Lake,  (20 volunteers)--OPEN
   
Volunteers will assist with set-up, t-shirts sales, parking, clean-up and general duties related to a Regatta. This is
   a fun, colorful event on Tempe Town Lake. Being a volunteer will allow you close-up viewing of the boats and first
   hand experience with a Regatta; not an opportunity that comes around very often in the Valley of the Sun. Don't miss
   your chance!

Free Arts Friday at Vihel Activity Bldg, Friday, March 20, 9a-noon (10 volunteers)--OPEN

Volunteers assist the children with their crafts and activities. Theme for the day is 'Meet the Masters'. Volunteers have
   as much fun as the children!

APRIL Activities

Egg Hunt at Escalante, Saturday, April 4, 8a-12:30p (30 volunteers needed)--Filled, Thank You East Valley Boys Service Club
   Escalante's annual neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt needs your help. Do you like to hide Easter Eggs and help young 
   ones find them?  Then this is your volunteer assignment.

   ​Volunteers assist the children with their crafts and activities. Theme for the day is 'Dinosaurs'. Volunteers have as
   much fun as the children!


MAY Activities

Mother's Day Luncheon, Friday, May 8, 10:30a-1:00p (10 volunteers)--OPEN
   Volunteers are needed to provide manicures (filing and polish) to the ladies attending the Tea. No professional 
   experience needed!

   ​Volunteers assist the children with their crafts and activities. Theme for the day is 'Out of this World'. Volunteers
   have as much fun as the children!

Factory Fun Factory at Vihel Activity Bldg, Friday, Decenber 4, 6p-9p (30 volunteers)--OPEN
 
 ​Volunteers assist the children and their families with their winter holiday crafts and activities. Theme for the day is
   'holiday'. Volunteers have as much fun as the children!

 

YEAR-ROUND ON-GOING GROUP PROJECTS 


Project such as the following can generally be scheduled anytime during the year if there is a current need. Call the listed contact person to make arrangements.

Parks and Trail Maintenance (10 to 30 volunteers) (When available)
Help pick up trash; plant trees; remove non-native plants; clean/paint parks equipment; repair, stabilize and build new trails in Tempe parks and preserve areas, as needed (no projects during June/July/August)

Library Shelf and Book Cleaning (up to 15 volunteers)
Dust and wash library shelves and books while maintaining books in proper order.
