Readers Theatre with Essential Theatre Company
Readers Theatre Performance - A Christmas Carol

Readers Theater is a dramatic presentation of a written work. Readers read from a "script" and reading parts are divided among the readers. No memorization, costumes, blocking, or special lighting is needed. The professionals at Essential Theatre organize free workshops for seniors at Tempe Public Library so they can learn more about the craft of acting and get the opportunity to perform.

Essential Theatre a nationally-recognized, multicultural ensemble serving audiences across Arizona. Now in its twenty-sixth season, Essential Theatre conducts interactive, improvisational performances and workshops that are for and about the lives of the communities it serves. The company gives audiences artistic experiences that reflect their own lives, give new life to their stories, and inspire them to new possibilities. Since 1990, Essential Theatre has performed and conducted workshops for over 200,000 people of all ages—in theatres and in corporate, educational, inner-city, and rural settings. Essential Theatre company is founded and directed by award winning author Susan Southard.

Readers Theatre Acting Workshop and Performance
Learn vocal/emotional expression, character creation and how to perform in these free workshops hosted by the Essential Theatre Company. They will guide you in the reading, casting, and rehearsals of You Can't Take it With You. Workshop will culminate in a public performance on March 7. Must attend all sessions and performance.

Everyone is welcome to this free readers theatre performance and adaptation of You Can't Take it With You (Kaufman & Hart, 1936).
