One of the city’s most beautiful historic homes, the Niels Petersen House Museum stands as a reminder of Tempe’s past and the residents who helped pave the way for future generations.

The Petersen House, located at 1414 W. Southern Ave in Tempe, is not currently open for regular hours of operation. If you’re interested in exploring this historic property, the Tempe History Museum offers tours of the Petersen House for groups of 10 or more by appointment. A $5 per person donation is requested for tours.

The Petersen House is closed for the season from May 27 – Oct 2, 2016. Last day to call and schedule tours for this season is May 13, 2016. To schedule a tour, please contact the Tempe History Museum front desk at 480-350-5100. Please note that tours are subject to staff and docent availability.

The home is on the National Register of Historic Places and has received the Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation. More information on the architecture of the home. A ramp allows accessibility to the first floor of the home; due to the historic nature of the home the second floor is not wheelchair accessible.
