Art in Private Development

Tempe requires large, private retail and office developments to commission artwork on their property or support cultural programs. Public art staff assists developers in identifying artists who create integrated or landmark public art on their properties. Developers also can choose to fund cultural spaces on their sites, implement their own cultural programs or support the existing programs of the Cultural Services Division. The result showcases Tempe as a progressive city with a focus on the aesthetic.
