Sustaining the Arts Grants are available to individual artists and non-profit organizations to fund initiatives that support the long-term development of communities, artists, and arts organizations. Projects supported by this grant could be in the form of civic dialogue, community organizing, panels, training, workshops, or conference. Initiatives funded by the grant must take place in Tempe and be open to other artists and organizations.

DEADLINE

Applications for these grants are accepted annually between July 1 and May 1, and are funded based on eligibility and availability of funds. Sustaining Arts Grant requests must be submitted at least six (6) weeks in advance of a project.

RESTRICTIONS

This grant does not fund:

  • programs that focus on the technical training of an artistic trade;
  • an event that occurs outside of Tempe;
  • for-profit organizations, for-profit schools or for-profit after-school programs;
  • an organization or learning institution’s administrative or artistic staff salaries; construction or renovation of facilities, capital expenditures, reduction of debt, feasibility studies, receptions, lobbying expenses, re-granting, scholarship programs or awards;
  • organizations that are incorporated for religious purposes or projects that focus on religious themes;
  • university- or college-sponsored projects unless they are open to non-credit participants;
  • an applicant who failed to submit a Final Report from a previously funded grant.
