Steven Methvin began his role as Deputy City Manager – Chief Operating Officer in July 2014. He started with the City of Tempe in 2012 as the Chief of Staff for the offices of the Mayor and City Council. Prior to working with Tempe, Steven served for 14 years as Chief of Staff for the Office of the Mayor in Glendale, Arizona. Steven has also worked as a senior manager with the Arizona Department of Transportation, where he received the Governor's Spirit of Excellence award and as an executive with Ford Aerospace in Newport Beach.
As Deputy City Manager, Steven works closely with Mayor Mitchell, the City Council and City Manager to align Tempe's strategic priorities with operational efficiencies in Community Development, Community Services, Human Services, Public Works and the Office of the Internal Auditor.
Steven is a second-generation Arizonan. He earned his Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in business from Arizona State University.
