The Aviation Commission advises the Mayor and City Council and assists City departments regarding the following: 1) on matters related to the impact of aircraft and airport operations on Tempe residents; 2) in the monitoring, implementation and enforcement of agreements made between the City of Phoenix and the City of Tempe concerning the operations of Sky Harbor International Airport; 3) in studies conducted of local airports and their potential impact on Tempe residents; and 4) on land use measures that could mitigate the impact of aircraft and airport operations.
The Aviation Commission is composed of nine (9) members. Each member of the Commission must be a Tempe resident from neighborhoods located in geographic areas throughout the community that are impacted by aircraft operations including areas within the LDN 65 noise contour for the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The terms are for three years. The Commission typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., in the Public Works Conference Room, Garden Level City Hall Complex, 31 East Fifth Street, Tempe.
