CARE 7 opens recruitment for volunteers twice per year, once in the Spring and again in the Fall.  Recruitment begins with a CARE 7 sponsored 33 hour Crisis Intervention Training offered to anyone.  Tuition for the training is $45.  The training covers topics and situations that are frequently encountered by CARE 7 staff and volunteers.  Those wishing to become a CARE 7 volunteer complete a written application, an interview, a reference check, and a statewide criminal background check.  If these steps are completed successfully the new volunteer then completes 9 additional hours of classroom training and ride-a-long observation training.  Training includes:

  • Crisis Intervention Skills & Critical Incident Stress Management
  • Death Notification & Grief Support
  • Domestic Violence
  • Substance Abuse
  • Diversity & Homelessness
  • Mental Illness Overview & Self Harm
  • Sexual Assault & Special Populations
  • Suicide Intervention & Grief after Suicide
