More than 2 million people visit Tempe Town Lake each year. Tempe Beach park is the metropolitan area's best outdoor venue for festivals, regional celebrations, free concerts, runs and amateur athletic events. Tempe Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Block Party - Dec. 31
Named one of the top ten places in the nation to ring in the New Year by USA Today, the Tempe Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Block Party is packed with excitement and fun for the entire family. More than 150,000 people are expected to be on hand for national entertainment, pep rallies, spectacular fireworks, carnival rides and interactive games. APS Fantasy of Lights - Thanksgiving Weekend through the first week of January
Enjoy an electric light parade down Mill Avenue or watch a lighted boat parade on the Tempe Town Lake amidst the twinkling tree lights lining the streets. Fireworks, live performances by local entertainers and hot cocoa vendors make a cool night under the November skies enjoyable.

Rock and Roll Marathon - January
Think of it this way - 26 miles, 26 bands. Run from Phoenix to Tempe in this amazing race of will, courage and flat out athleticism. The varied terrain of mountains, urban atmosphere and the finish line at the shores of Tempe Town Lake will keep runners interested in the view. The reward concert at Tempe Beach park features a national act.Tempe's Oktoberfest brings everybody form the surrounding communities

Way Out West Oktoberfest - First weekend in October
This celebration of ethnicity is brought to Tempe Town Lake by Tempe Sister Cities, with proceeds benefiting the group's international student/teacher exchange program. The three-day festival draws more than 150,000 visitors each year. Entertainers on all three stages include polka bands as well as local rock and country groups. A beer garden features ales of the world and the traditional brats and sauerkraut. And where else in the country will children still want to play in water in October?

Fourth of July
Tempe Town Lake is the only place in the metropolitan area to watch glistening fireworks over water, with the Mill Avenue bridges providing a fabulous backdrop. Bur the real part involves so much more. Firefighters display their trucks. Rowers demonstrate their skills. Regionally-known bands entertain about 100,000 people from around the state who visit Tempe to celebrate their love for this country

The Great Cardboard Boat Regatta - April
Boats don't have to be made of wood or steel to float in Tempe Town lake. The Tempe Rotary Club proves that annually with the Rotary River Rally, in which all the boats are made of cardboard, paint and maybe a little Elmer's glue. Prizes are presented for creativity, enthusiasm, speed and the Titanic-Award goes to the most spectacular sinking of the day. More than 8,000 people are expected to watch the silliness.

Live@theLake - Sundays
The Ultimate Music Experience! Watch a free concert under the stars at Tempe Town Lake on 16 Sundays. Entertainers such as Esteban and the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, make music on temperate evenings. Bring the family, the dog and a Frisbee to enjoy the outdoor amphitheater overlooking the water. Tempe Music Festival - April
Three days, five stages, 50 bands - that's the Tempe Music Festival. Ranging from great local bands to nationally known groups, this marks the best music showcase in the area. Call (480) 663-0700 for details.

Tempe's Annual Downtown Cooldown - July
Snow is perfectly normal in July in downtown Tempe - during the Downtown Cooldown. About 15,000 children enjoy more than 20 tons of manufactured snow, carnival games and treats each year at Tempe Town Lake. For some, this is their first experience with the cold treat. Chill out in the snow first, then take a run through Splash Playground.

AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tempe Open - April
Watch the world's best volleyball players spike it at Tempe Beach park. Tempe trucks in more than 20 tons of sand to create an oasis of eight volleyball courts at Tempe Town Lake. More than 40,000 people deck out in shorts and bikinis for a celebration of summer at this free event. Visit www.avp.com for details

Ballet Under The Stars - October
Ballet Arizona setups up stage at Tempe Town Lake to entertain audiences at no cost. This evening of outdoor fantasy and dance draws thousands of art aficionados of all ages
