The Tempe Chamber of Commerce, the City
of Tempe Economic Development Division and Arizona Public Service (APS)
have partnered to create a new business retention and expansion program
leveraging the Synchronist Business Information System®. The Synchronist
System is a software tool to organize, analyze and report company
information, giving community decision-makers invaluable insight into the
dynamics of the local economy.
The program is part of the City and Chamber's overall business retention and
expansion efforts in which City and Chamber staff target existing businesses
to discuss concerns, issues, and opportunities affecting their business.
Outreach within the local community provides an opportunity for staff to
present economic development programs at the state, county or local level,
which can help the Tempe business community lower operating costs and expand
their markets. The program is an outreach initiative designed to retain
industry and jobs while fostering expansion, growth, and development.
The Synchronist System is a structured business information system designed
for collection, management, analysis, and reporting of the business data
that impacts the local economy. The program provides the following tangible
benefits: identifies companies with the best growth potential while creating
new marketing opportunities; identifies and predicts companies at risk;
captures consistent results; creates a valuable proprietary database;
maximizes the value of meeting company executives; and reduces business
visit cost/cycle by 66 percent.
Improving the quality and access of industry-related information is a high
priority for the Economic Development Division in the City of Tempe. In an
age of collaboration and competitive advantage we must go beyond just
qualitative indicators in evaluating Tempe’s industries and competitiveness.
Increasingly, economic competitiveness is directly related to levels of
social capital, human capital, knowledge, technology, quality of life,
research and development, environmental management and production
efficiencies.
The future of our industry and economy depends upon our ability to retain
industry while extending the range and capabilities of existing industries.
The net effect leverages existing competitive advantages in the overall
development of the City of Tempe.
