Tempe’s dedication to providing excellent park and golf
facilities throughout the city allows families and businesses to host
fabulous picnics, large-scale walks and runs, outdoor concerts, trade shows
and golf tournaments as well as sailing and rowing regattas.

greenbelt of park space surrounds
Tempe Town Lake on the Rio Salado, with
the premier parksite being Tempe Beach Park. This 25-acre park is the home
of the city’s signature events, including the Fiesta Bowl Block Party,
Oktoberfest, July 4 celebration, APS Fantasy of Lights, and the Tempe Music
Festival. The AVP Pro Beach Volleyball tournament makes one of its 10 annual
stops here, and the Rock and Roll Marathon ran through the park in January
2004. Fishing derbies are regularly hosted by area shops.
Town Lake is the only place in the metropolitan area for team rowing. The
Rio Salado Rowing Club annually hosts the national Desert Sprints Regatta.
The City of Tempe provides classes for all levels of rowers, from those who
want to try the sport to those who are already experts.
The Arizona Yacht Club also sails on this lake.
Kiwanis Park offers a variety of special events, including a movie series,
Teddy Bear Picnic, Daddy/Daughter Sweetheart Dance and Halloween activities.
Facilities offered are an indoor wave pool, tennis courts, baseball and
soccer fields, batting cages, pedal boats, and many others. The lake at
Kiwanis Park provides a .9 mile walking path as well as excellent fishing.

Tempe’s four golf courses create affordable fun for everyone. Rolling Hills
Golf Course, located at 1415 N. Mill Avenue, is a municipal course for the
person who wants to get in a quick round. To reserve your tee time, call

Adjacent to Tempe Town Lake is Arizona State University’s Karsten Golf
Course. The course is a little more upscale than the municipal course.
Reservations are required and the price of a cart is included in the fees.

Rio Salado Golf Course is a nine-hole public course that is open year round.
