ASU International Institute for Sustainability

Arizona State University’s Global Institute for Sustainability catalyzes and advances interdisciplinary research and education on environmental, economic, and social sustainability, bringing together life scientists, social scientists, engineers, and government and industry leaders to share knowledge and develop solutions to real-world problems.

The Institute conducts research, education, and problem-solving related to sustainability, with a special focus on urban environments. More than half of the world’s population already lives in cities: global sustainability cannot be achieved without making cities sustainable. The Institute initiates and nurtures work on issues of sustainability across many departments on the four campuses of Arizona State University, and collaborates with other academic institutions, governments, businesses and industries, and community groups locally, nationally, and globally
