Tempe Town Lake Junior Rowing

The Tempe Town Lake Junior Rowing Program
has been operating on Tempe Town Lake for several years. The athletes have traveled
around the country to compete at a national level. This team is open to boys and
girls ages 13-18 from all over the valley. The team is represented by many of
the local schools and the athletes come together to race as one. There is no
experience necessary and the team is divided into a Varsity Squad and a Novice
Squad. Every year new athletes join to become rowers and increase their
opportunities to earn a college scholarship. Generally, practices are
Monday-Friday from 4-6pm September-May. This is a competitive sport, so
attendance counts. Please understand that even though this is a club, we conduct
our program with the same rules and expectations of a varsity high school sport.
We accept athletes throughout the year so please contact the coaches to find out more
about the team. Scholarships are available for travel and equipment expenses.
Junior Rowing
Our Junior Rowing Team (high school students) has a Varsity & Novice
component. Although this is a Varsity
Team, Beginners with no experience are encouraged to come out and join the
Novice Program. We are
competitive, training
five
days a week in preparation for races locally and around the country.

Junior Erg-Core Training
The Junior Erg-Core Training class is a dynamic workout that includes
stretching, core exercises and erg

Registration for winter 2012 classes begins December 5th for
Tempe residents and
December 12th for non-residents.

save on your Rowing class fees by registering at least two weeks prior to the
start
date. Class fees will increase by 10- 20% after the deadline. Contact the Boating

Pre-Season
Junior Learn to Row
This session will give athletes a chance to learn the basics of Rowing before
they join the team. Take the Learn to Row class and find-out if Rowing is for
you. Float test will be held on Tuesday, January 3, at Kiwanis Recreation
Center, 6111 S. All-America Way. Class fee is applied to the Junior Rowing Team
if participant registers for the Winter session. 480-350-8069
