Every participant must successfully pass a float test prior to the first water session of a rowing class. The Float Test is conducted in deep water while wearing shorts and a long sleeve shirt. Men may wear swim trunks, women may wear a swim suit under their shirt. No sweats please.

The Float Test will be conducted the 1st day of class at a city public swimming pool, usually the Kiwanis Recreation Center. Students will be asked to float, tread water and/or swim unassisted for 10-minutes.

This test can also be satisfied with a copy of a current WSI, Advanced Lifesaving, Dive Card, or completion of Float Test Form. Must be signed by a lifeguard who is certified by the American Red Cross. An acceptable photocopy of card is required the first day of class.

A presentation on rowing safety and a class introduction will be held at the pool as well. Bring a comfortable change of clothes, and a towel.
