Welcome to the Tempe City Attorney’s Office
The City Attorney is
appointed by the City Council to serve as the chief legal advisor to the
Council, the City Manager, and all City departments, offices, and
agencies. The City Attorney’s Office represents the City in all legal
proceedings through its Civil Division and Criminal Division
(Prosecutor’s Office).
The City Attorney’s Office
is committed to providing the highest quality legal representation
possible to meet the present and future needs of the City of Tempe in an
efficient and effective manner. The Office maintains an open door policy
to encourage continuous communication between City departments and their
legal representatives.
The City Attorney’s Office
includes 31 staff positions, 18 of which are filled by attorneys. The
Office’s budget is $3.1 million for fiscal year 2007-08, with an
additional Water and Environmental Law budget of $.3 million.
City Attorney Andrew B. Ching supervises ten attorneys working in
the Civil Division and seven attorneys who serve as prosecutors in the
Criminal Division.
