Tempe Public Art Call to Artists

Tempe frequently offers opportunities for visual artists to apply for city public art commissions. These projects are open to artists nationally or locally, depending on budget and the amount of community contact that needs to take place.

Developers, individuals and businesses searching for artists use the Cultural Services Division slide resource bank. The slide bank is open to all artists nationally. To register, complete and return the Artist Registration and Slidebank form (pdf, word) along with the additional support material.

Other valuable opportunities exist for artists working in the field. The Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) developed Artists Register, a resource for artists to post their pertinent information and images on the web. Public art programs, private individuals and businesses utilize this site to find and learn more about artists. This resource is offered to artists at a reduced fee due to a consortium of Arizona cities and the Arizona Commission on the Arts supporting the website.

The Gallery at Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA) is issuing a Call for Work for the 2008 juried exhibition, “TCA Biennial: Paper.”

Deadline: 5 p.m., June 27

Because the exhibition falls on the one-year anniversary of the opening of the TCA, the city is looking for works on paper, art made of paper and artists inspired by paper, which is a tradition for first anniversaries.
