The Tempe Symphony Orchestra is a
dedicated group of musicians who volunteer their time and efforts in
order to perform challenging literature from both the standard
repertoire and more contemporary sources (past
performance list). No members of the orchestra receive payment
for playing in the group. Seating order is based, in part, on length
of service in the orchestra, with final seating decisions at the
discretion of the Music Director.
Musicians wishing to audition must choose and supply their own
audition music. Please select orchestral excerpts from the standard
repertoire lasting approximately three minutes, as well as a short
solo or solo excerpt (no longer than two minutes). Your selections
should demonstrate both your technical and musical skills to best
advantage.
The Tempe Symphony Orchestra rehearses from 7:30-9:30 p.m., most
Mondays, September-May in the Tempe Center for the Arts (Lakeside).
There are four Monday evening concerts each season, with a dress
rehearsal from 4-6 p.m. on the Sunday preceding each concert.
Attendance is expected at all rehearsals, with few exceptions.
At the present time, we anticipate the following openings for the
2011-2012 season.
Trumpet – 1 section position
String Bass – 2 section positions
We are always pleased to listen to auditions on any instrument, as
we keep a list of substitute musicians and a limited waiting list
for membership.
Auditions will be at 6 p.m. on Aug. 27 in the TCA Lakeside. If you
would like to schedule an audition time, please
e-mail
the Music Director.
Thanks!
Doug
