Noise Mitigation Flight Procedure Compliance Monitoring

 

The City of Tempe monitors  monitors monthly compliance with flight procedures in place for jet and large turboprop aircraft that use the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

 Noise Reports

  • The 4-DME instrument departure procedure includes specific runway headings to keep departing carrier aircraft over the Salt River/Town Lake as means to lessen departure noise impact on adjacent noise sensitive areas.

Measuring airline east departure compliance using the Tempe Corridor.  The City of Phoenix Aviation Department uses an exit gate to identify carriers that turn prior to reaching 4-DME (Price Rd).

 

  • The equalization procedure intends to evenly disperse the noise impact between the cities of Tempe and Phoenix by equalizing the number of jet and large turboprop departures going east and west on an annual basis.
