Kwong's Tennis

Kwong started playing at the age of 21.  While attending Broome Community College in upstate New York, Kwong befriended Steve Howland.  Steve gave Kwong private lessons in tennis in exchange for Kwong giving valuable tips perfecting Steve's pool game.  Approximately 3 years later, Kwong excelled enough to play #2 singles for the team.  Also, the team's coach, OZ Winters, helped Kwong become a more focused and disciplined tennis player.

Passion for coaching:

"I enjoy this game very much, and gain great satisfaction in helping students of all ages develop and perfect their skills in tennis."

Tennis Tip:  Doubles Teamwork

  1. When observing  doubles play, frequently we see the backcourt players who are hesitant to come in and join their partner at the net since they are concerned about the lob and an inability to run back to cover the lob.

Consider that the opponents are lobbing because they have been provided a user friendly ball directed to them at the baseline.

So, next time you get to the net, try angling your shot or directing it at the player's feet who is inside or around the service line. Not only will you find yourself in better position, but also you've neutralized the lobber.

  1. When you feel you are on top of your game, you are only kidding yourself.  There's ALWAYS room for improvement!
