on line at www.tempe.gov/tennis
League Structure & Scoring: The player
listed 1st on the match schedule is responsible for bringing a new can of tennis
balls and for booking the court by contacting the front desk 480-350-5702.
Players are to contact each other to arrange the day and time of the match.
Flex League matches may be booked one week in advance. Round robin format,
no-add scoring. A 3rd set 10-point tie breaker will be played in lieu of a 3rd
set.
- When booking your
league match you must inform the front desk that you are booking a Flex
League match.
Flex League players are the only ones who can book courts one-week in advance.
- Matches must be
played during the week that they are scheduled.
- If you are having
difficulty finding a court time contact League Coordinator - Jackie Cerda
immediately at
jackie_cerda@tempe.gov
Player check-in:
Players are to check in at the reception desk 10
minutes prior to match time to receive court assignments prior to play and to
let us know that you are here. No substitute players may be used, you must
play your own matches.
Reporting score:
Match winners are to report scores immediately following the match.
Players may do so by coming up to the front desk, or telephone the front desk
480-350-5711, or by emailing Jackie. Scores not
reported within 7 days will be counted as a loss to both players.
Scoring System:
The player with the most match wins will be declared the champion. In the
event there is a tie, the champions will be settled as follows:
1.
Head-to-Head. Winner of
the head-to-head match played previously by the two players in question.
2.
Sets. Loser of the
fewest number of sets.
3.
Games. Loser of the
fewest number of games.
Match results will be updated weekly for viewing on-line or see the league book
located at the KRC Reception Desk.

Lateness & Defaults: Players have a 15
minute "grace" period to show up and check in at the reception desk after the
originally scheduled match time. Players who check in after the 15 minute
default time receive 0 points; however, the match may still be played for fun if
agreeable to the opponent.
No-Shows & Defaults: Please, as a courtesy to your opponents, and to
maintain the integrity of the league, AVOID NO SHOWS.
It should be noted that two no-shows by a player during a league session
will result in the player being defaulted from the league. The player will not
be allowed to register for the following league session.
Rainouts & Inclement Weather: When league matches are rained out, an
additional week of play will be added to the end of the season. If weather
is questionable, call KRC at 480-350-5711 to find out if you are playing.
A decision will be made one hour in advance of match starting time. If
rain interrupts play, and the match is completed on a different date, the match
will resume with the same score when interrupted.
Additional rules for unsanctioned matches: All league participants are
responsible for reviewing and adhering to the Kiwanis Recreation Center Tennis (KRC)
League rules. For rule and case scenario decisions beyond KRC League Rules,
refer to International Tennis Federation (ITF). A reference hard copy is
located at the reception desk. Tennis officials are not available for
league play. Conflicts shall be resolved as follows: 1) Players are
encouraged to come to a mutual agreement. 2) Players are encouraged to use the
ITF Rules of Tennis and for case decisions. 3) Players who cannot reach a
compromise may contact
