Rowland's
latest Concord Jazz CD "Now Dig This"
is a loving vocal tribute to the melodically warm, yet emotionally cool
recorded work of the 50s and early 60s Miles.Rowland
was a vocalist with Count Basie and performed with such icons as Sarah
Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett.
This rollicking, multi-media-filled musical revue spans 223 years of the
American presidency – from Washington to Obama. Stories of the 44 men
who rose to the highest office in the land are brought to life through
all-new rock, pop and folk music. Recommended for age seven and older.
Russell Harlow, clarinet, Thomas Landschoot, cello, and Robert Moeling, piano perform. Harlow is one of the nation's premiere solo and chamber music clarinetists. The program will include some of the great music for Clarinet Trio and a 'Happy Birthday Arizona' surprise. Buy Tickets

Lyf’s parents have kept him safe in their nest and not
let him learn to fly. Into Lyf’s world burst a hilarious pair of
fast-talking twins who have snuck away from “flock” school on a quest for
adventure. Recommended for age six and older.
TSWE will play host to four outstanding high
school bands in an evening of superb music. More than 200 of Arizona’s most
outstanding high school musicians will perform on stage.
TSWE will feature the solo talents of Albie Micklich, professor of bassoon
at Arizona State University. In addition to marches and other audience
favorites, TSWE will perform "Yankee Doodling," a work featuring many
soloists and all the sections of the wind ensemble.
The voice students of Anne Elgar Kopta, soprano and associate professor of Music in voice, will perform. Kopta has a distinguished record of performing and teaching that spans the world of Broadway and opera and teaching at major universities and summer music schools. Free
This event honors current title holders and crowns new Pride Royalty who
will promote pride in the community, state and country. Entertainment
accompanies the competition.
Benny Green is a perpetual student of the history of Jazz piano and
mentions Art Tatum, Erroll Garner, Hank Jones, Ahmad Jamal, Phineas Newborn,
Bud Powell and Oscar Peterson as some of his main influences.

This is a free event, ticketed event. No reserved seating. Tickets will be
available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis on the night of
the concert. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Mary Erickson, ASU art education department,
and local art teachers Roxy May and Kathy David present Inquiry
Strategies and the transfer between art viewing and art making. Art and
classroom teachers will benefit from the presentations and hands-on project.
