YouthFest Courage Awards and Tempe Top Teens Recognition
The YouthFest Courage Awards and Tempe Top Teens Recognition is a community-wide annual event that recognizes the strengths of our youth at the community level, lets them know that their efforts are appreciated, and strengthens their sense of belonging in the community. Recipients of the Courage Awards and Tempe Top Teens Recognition are honored at a banquet dinner attended by the recipients and their families, the  Mayor and City Council, other city and state dignitaries, school board officials, educators, and community leaders. The Courage Awards acknowledges the courage it can take for youth to grow up to lead productive lives in this challenging world. The awards are designed to provide recognition to youth that might not ordinarily receive it in their daily lives.  The Courage Awards also provide role models and inspiration to other people who may find themselves faced with similar challenges.  Ten youth receive this award yearly within the following categories of courage:

  • Courage to Overcome Physical Limitation
  • Courage to Overcome Health Condition
  • Courage to Overcome Family Situation
  • Physical Act of Courage
