On Tuesday, March 14th
at approximately 11:45am, a 74 year-old woman was physically & sexually
assaulted inside her Tempe residence. Police are seeking the public’s
help in finding her attacker.
At 11:45am the suspect
knocked on the woman’s door and when she answered he told her that he
was there to check on her water heater / water. She let the suspect
into her home and showed him where the hot water heater was located.
The suspect then approached the victim and demanded money. She declined
his request and at that point he began to assault her.
After the assault, the
suspect took the victim’s purse and its’ contents and left the
residence.
The suspect is described
as a light-skinned black male, approximately 30-35 years old, 5’4”—5’8”
tall, muscular build, short black hair, and was wearing an unknown
colored sleeveless shirt and unknown colored pants. He was seen driving
away in a very dirty, small, black 2-door sports car type vehicle. He
was seen alone in the car as he left.
The victim was able to
assist investigators by completing a composite of the suspect. That
composite is attached to this news release.

of the suspect is asked to call the Tempe Police Department at
480-350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
The victim in this case
is recovering with relatives and does not want to speak with the media
at this time. The exact location of the incident is not being released
by investigators which is standard in sexual assault cases. The
residence is in the 2300 block of East Southern Avenue.
At this time,
investigators are not associating this incident with any other on-going
investigations in Tempe. |
