The City of Tempe invites businesses with a science-bend to participate in celebrations for Geeks' Night Out and Geek Week presented by the Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives.

Geeks' Night Out and Geek Week are Tempe's tributes to everyone who loves science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM.) The event is part of the Arizona SciTech Festival.  Last year, about 2,500 people attended.

Tempe has the highest concentration of these businesses in Arizona, with thousands of people employed in STEM professions. The event also reaches out to Tempe schools to encourage the workforce of the future to discover the fascinating fun and carreer opportunities that STEM offers.

Geeks' Night Out explodes onto Mill Avenue at Tempe City Hall's Sixth Street Park from 4:30 - 9 p.m. on Feb. 20. It's free to attend and free to have a booth. There's a 6 p.m. costume parade led by Phoenix Comicon, comic books, live music, science booths, student experiments and much more. Downtown Tempe Community is a sponsoring partner.

The event is BYOB - Bring Your Own Booth. This means that exhibitors bring their own tables, chairs, displays and anything else needed. Tempe is providing only space at the event. Businesses that would like to sell merchandise at the event will need a Tempe special event sales tax license. There is no sales tax requirement for sampling or displaying.

Geek Week takes place at many Tempe schools, at the Tempe Public Library and at the Tempe History Museum. Events for City of Tempe venues will be announced in early February.
