Tempe Police: Halloween Safety & DUI Task Force

The Tempe Police Department, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and Valley DUI Task Force, will be conducting multi-agency patrols between Thursday October 31 and Saturday November 2. Partner agencies this Halloween include Mesa PD, Scottsdale PD and the Department of Public Safety.
Tempe is hosting the DUI Task Force Command Post on Halloween night, October 31st, from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., at the Tempe Fire Training Facility, 1340 E. University Drive.
Patrol Units will be visible in our neighborhoods, downtown and across the City. Traffic Bureau Motor Officers and Patrol Officers will be targeting impaired driving across our entire community.
Please remember that kids of all ages will be out, and use extra caution driving on Halloween night. As always, our most important goal is to keep everyone in our community safe.

*Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin.
*Don’t drink and drive.
*If drinking, designate a sober driver, and leave your car keys at home.
*Program taxi service phone numbers into your phone before going out.
*If you are impaired, take a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation.
*If you see an impaired driver on the road, contact local law enforcement.
TPD Safety Tips to Help Protect Trick or Treaters in our Neighborhoods
*Place reflective tape on costumes and provide flashlights for visibility
*Stick close to your children if you do plan to Trick or Treat
*Remind children never to get in a car with a stranger or go into a strangers home
*Assure cell phones are fully charged
*Stay on the sidewalk – don’t jaywalk
