In November 2009, Tempe held several forums for employees and community members to inform them about the projected budget issues the city is facing in the 2010-11 fiscal year. At the forums, City Manager Charlie Meyer and city budget staff members provided background information on the city budget and specific information about the projected $22.4 million deficit for 2010-11. The city also took input from employees and the public from late October through December 2009, before a specific citywide plan was developed. These groups submitted ideas, suggestions, comments and questions, which can be viewed on the main budget Web page, www.tempe.gov/budgetplan.
