Police Department Phone Numbers

These phone numbers are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

9-1-1 - Life or death or in progress emergencies - calls placed from a Tempe wireline phone are answered by the Tempe Police Department.  If the caller needs medical or fire assistance the call will be connected to the Phoenix Fire Alarm Room, which dispatches Tempe Fire and Medical units.

Non-emergency police requests - This phone number should be called for all reports of delayed incidents or non-emergencies (i.e.: a window broken yesterday, a car broken into some time during the night, or loud music/loud party calls).   480-966-6211

Tempe City Jail - Most citizens arrested by the Tempe Police Department are taken to the city jail (120 E 5th St, Tempe) for processing.  If the prisoner is going to be detained for a long period of time he/she is transported to Maricopa County Jail.

Tempe Police Narcotics Unit - Ongoing problems with narcotic activity may be entered on line at this link or called in to the Narcotic unit during normal business hours or after hours you may call Communications at 480-350-8311.  480-350-8730
 
Graffiti Hotline - Graffiti on city property will be painted over by city crews and/or volunteers.  Leave a message to report the exact location.  If you witness someone doing graffiti, call 480-966-6211, immediately, so we may send officers out to try to catch the culprits.  Graffiti on private property is the property owner's responsibility.  Leave a message on the voice mail and a representative will contact the property owner to make arrangements to take care of it.  480-350-8384
 
Tempe Police Traffic Bureau - For traffic related problems within a neighborhood call this number.  An administrative assistant will gather your information which will be forwarded on to the appropriate motorcycle officer.  A message may be left after hours. Tempe Police Detective Bureau - Once a police report has been written by a police officer, reports with follow-up information are assigned to a detective.  Detectives contact victims as soon as they have additional information on the crime or to gather more details. 480-350-8901
